Director Joyce Bernal Praises Vic Sotto & Ryzza Mae, Miguel Tanfelix & Bianca Umali

DIRECTOR JOYCE BERNAL is very pleased that her “Prinsesa” episode in “My Big Bossing” is being praised by all those who’ve seen it. At the presscon of “Once Upon a Kiss” which she’s helming for GMA-7, she told us she enjoyed directing Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon. “Isang episode lang ang ‘Prinsesa’ pero ang budget, para sa isang buong pelikula na,” she says. “Magastos sa sets, sa costumes, sa production design kasi kaharian ng mga hari at reyna ang setting ng story. Napakagaling ni Ryzza. Sineseryoso niya talaga ang pagiging aktres niya.”

How about the teen love team of Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali in “Once Upon a Kiss”, GMA-7’s first offering for the new year 2015?

“Pareho silang mahal ng camera, hindi namimili ng anggulo. Pareho rin silang magaling, very intense kaya I even tell them to tone down at huwag masyadong idrama ang mga eksena. Maganda ang combination nila at kikiligin talaga ang fans. Si Miguel lang, sinabihan ko nang magpapayat siya kasi nagiging chubby siya.”

She says “Once Upon a Kiss” is about women who think they cannot live without men. “Puro palpak yung mga lalaki rito, like Keempee de Leon who’s the husband of Manilyn Reynes, si Al Tantay na asawa ni Nova Villa at si Cris Villanueva na mister naman ni Mylene Dizon. Sina Keempee at Al, mapapatay agad ang characters nila rito kaya magiging biyuda si Manilyn at ang nanay niyang si Nova. Ang nagkokontrol sa buhay nilang lahat dito is Michael de Mesa as King, the father of Mylene. The story is really like a fairy tale. May magiging sleeping beauty rito who will be in coma at yung kiss ng partner niya ang gigising sa kanya, but I won’t say who kung sino ang makakatulog. Panoorin nyo na lang.”

A single mom, Direk Joyce is now 46 years old. Her one and only daughter Liam is now 12 years old. Direk Joyce will be busy next year not only on TV with “Once Upon a Kiss” but with a new movie starring Piolo Pascual titled “Lecheng Pag-ibig”, but they have yet to find the right leading lady for him.
