Does Regine Velasquez Feel Insecure When She Sings With Lani Misalucha?

REGINE VELASQUEZ performs for the first time in a local concert with Lani Misalucha in “Ultimate”, their Valentine show with Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano to be held at MOA Arena on February 13 and 14. Is she aware that the two of them are considered rivals? Does she somehow feel insecure or threatened that they will now share the same stage?

“Actually, tuwing may dumarating na bagong singer, tinatanong sa’kin yan,” says Regine. “Nagge-guest pa nga ako sa concerts nila to help. Kami ni Lani, nagkasama na kami sa concerts in the U.S., pero dito sa Pilipinas, ngayon pa lang. Yes, I’m aware na pinagtatapat kami kasi pareho kaming belters, but I don’t consider her a threat kasi we have different styles at iba rin ang audience ko sa audience niya. I think may kanya-kanya kaming following. First time, magkasama kami, I really told her, Lani, I love your voice. Kasi when she sings, akala mo, mahina lang pero ang ganda-ganda pakinggan. E, ako, pag may magaling na singer, nagiging fan ako kaya I’m excited to work with Lani kasi she’s nice to work with and she’s a very nice person.”

So she doesn’t feel insecure at all? “No, may ginagawa naman talaga siya na di ko ginagawa, like she sings opera, pumipito pa siya, she mimics other singers. I can also mimic some singers, but it’s not really my strength. I believe God really created us differently and gave us our own gifts to be shared with other people.”
