AFTER THE grand Dingdong Dantes-Marian Rivera wedding, the next showbiz nuptials to watch out for is that of Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero on February 15. Unlike the very public Dingdong-Marian wedding, this one will be an exclusive affair to be held on Balesin Island off Quezon. But later, they will have a reception for friends and relatives in Manila who cannot go to Balesin.
This early, Heart says their wedding is not as extravagant but simpler, as Sen. Chiz, who’s hands on in the preparations, is quite a tightwad. “Sobrang tipid siya sa paggastos,” she says. “Laging tumatawad. Parang siya yung babae. For instance, sa flowers, sabi niya, hindi niya kaya yung price given to us. Sabi niya sa’kin, kaya mo bang matulog sa gabi na ganyang kamahal yan? So, yung flowers that will be used sa Balesin, ise-save tapos dadalhin dito sa Manila para siya ring gamitin sa reception. Natutuwa naman ako as I’m learning a lot from him. You really have to know how to save, lalo na pag magkakaanak kami. You have to be practical.”
How is she and the senators twins, Joaquin and Cecilia, from his first marriage to Christine Flores who’s now on with a dancer? “We’re okay. We all spent Christmas together in the U.S. kasi sinukat ko yung gown ko designed by Monique Lhuillier which I will use sa Manila reception. Yung sa Balesin will be made by Ezra of Dubai. In the States, I was able to practice my skills in taking care of children. Inasikaso ko sila and also taught them how to be more independent.”
Unlike Marian and Dingdong, Heart and Sen. Chiz mutually signed a pre-nuptial agreement. “Okay na yun para maayos ang lahat,” she says. “Gusto rin parents ko and suggestion din ni Sen. Miriam Santiago who introduced us to each other. Mas mabuti na yun para walang pag-aawayan pagdating sa pera.”
