Janine Gutierrez Declares Her Independence And Buys Her Own Condo Unit

JANINE GUTIERREZ is the new face of Boardwalk’s Cosmopolitan Collection, the embodiment of the young and confident woman living the urban life. She was presented at a fashion show in Luxent Hotel, along with other GMA stars, as the new models of Boardwalk. Alden Richards is the model of the Artiste Collection for debonair young men, the very buff and hunky Mike Tan (who’s presented in a series of photos with him in briefs) for the Men’s Basic Underwear Collection, Sam Pinto for Women’s Basic Underwear Collection, Rich Asuncion for the Missy collection for young ladies, Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino, Kim Rodriguez and Juancho Trivino are the models for the We Love It collection of casual jeans and shirts for teenagers. The new Boardwalk rejuvenated slogan/ battle cry for 2015 is “Bigger, Smarter and Better, Fashion for Social Change”.

It’s only Janine that we were able to interview because after the ramp show, all the stars were told to go to the hotel’s corridors to be interviewed there. How uncomfortable! We insisted on sitting down with Janine on our table and did our interview there. Other writers were also turned off and chose to just leave instead of interviewing the stars on the corridor.

How does Janine feel when a lot of quarters predicted at the start of 2015 that she’s one of the stars who will shine brightly this year? Proof of this is that she is the cover girl of several glossy magazines for the month of January alone. “Sana, magkatotoo ang sabi nila,” she says. “Nagkataon nga pong nagkasabay-sabay ang paglabas ng magazines na akong nasa cover kaya nakakatuwa.”

Is it true she bought a condo unit and will soon leave the home of her dad? “Yes, I bought one, but I haven’t moved yet. Hinahanda ko pa ang sarili ko. Kasi all my life, kasama ko yung dalawang kapatid ko sa kuwarto. Pero kaya ko na bang mag-isa ngayon? But I really have to move na kasi ang sikip na naming tatlo in one room. Also, I have to learn how to cook. Gusto ko, pag mag-isa na lang ako, ako mismo, magluluto.”

What does her parents say? “Si mom (Lotlot de Leon), okay lang, approved agad siya. Si dad ang nahihiya ako, kasi daddy’s girl talaga ako. But I think he’d understand.”

Her mom just won best supporting actress in the Metro filmfest? “Yes, sobrang tuwang-tuwa kaming lahat. I know magaling naman siya talaga, but this is the first time her acting is recognized kaya I’m so happy for her.”

What are her other plans for 2015? “So far, okay ang show ko ngayon with Elmo (Magalona), ‘More than Words’, we’re doing really well at maraming nakakagusto sa kikay na character ko. Sana magtagal pa kami sa ere. Two new characters are being added. First is Melissa Mendez as a new contravida then si Kylie Padilla is joining us as Elmo’s ex-girlfriend kaya magkakaroon ng love triangle. So there’s something new to look forward to in our show kaya abangan nyo. Dream ko naman na sana, makagawa ako ng first movie this year. Hindi ko pa na-try na magpelikula, e.”
