Jodi Sta. Maria Vs. Angelica Panganiban Face Off For The New Year In ABS-CBN's Remake Of 'Pangako Sa'Yo'

ABS-CBN HAD a recent trade launch announcing their coming shows in 2015. One of the most awaited is their remake of “Pangako Sa’Yo”, which ran on ABS-CBN from 2000 to 2002. It was a toprater and when re-aired in 2012 in the cable channel Jeepney TV, it rated once again.

The Kathniel love team will now reprise the roles of Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa (both of whom are now married to other partners.) We have no doubt their fans will be delighted to watch them every night in the roles of Angelo and Yna.

But what we truly anticipate here is the duel between the actresses who’ll play the pivotal roles of Amor Powers and Madame Claudia Buenavista, so effectively brought to life by Eula Valdes and Jean Garcia. We heard Jodi Sta. Maria will play the role of Amor, the lowly maid who falls for the rich hacendero’s son, Eduardo (then played by Tonton Gutierrez.) Angelica will in turn play Madame Claudia, the rich girl from a political family who becomes Eduardo’s legal wife.

Eula and Jean were both in their mid-30s when they did the roles that really helped boost their careers. Jodi and Angelica are younger. Jodi is 32 while Angelica is only 28, so let’s see if they’ll be convincing and believable in their roles playing mothers to todays’ most popular Kapamilya teen stars. It’s interesting to note that Jodi herself was a part of the original “Pangako”, playing the role of Lia, daughter of Jean and Tonton.

Aside from “Pangako Sa’Yo”, other Kapamilya offerings for 2015 include “Never Say Goodbye” starring the senior love team of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, with Jessy Mediola and JC de Vera. Then there’s “Nathaniel”, the first assignment of Isabelle Daza after moving from GMA to ABS, with Gerald Anderson, Shaina Magdayao, Lyca Garainod and a new child star actor, Marco Maza, supported by Coney Reyes and Pokwang.
Next is the comeback vehicle of the Jolina Magdangal-Marvin Agustin loveteam, “Flor de Liza”, with two child stars in the title role. To be launched in her own romantic comedy is teen star Janella Salvador in “Oh My G” with her “Be Careful” leading man Marlo Mortel and PBB’s Manolo Pedrosa.

Then they have the “Inday Bote” remake starring Alex Gonzaga with Matteo Guidicelli & Kean Cipriano. Last is the local adaptation of the Latino sex drama, “Pasion de Amor” starring Jake Cuenca, Ejay Falcon, Joseph Marco, Ellen Adarna, Arci Muñoz and Coleen Garcia.
