Martin Escudero Plays Supporting Role In '#Ewankosau' After Winning Best Actor For 'Positive'

MARTIN ESCUDERO feels honored winning the best drama actor for TV award in Gawad Tanglaw for his fine performance in “Positive” as an HIV patient. He tied with Piolo Pascual and Coco Martin. How does he feel about it? “Siempre, malaking karangalan na mapahanay ako sa malalaking artistang gaya nila,” he says. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa Gawad Tanglaw at sa TV5 rin, lalo kay Ms. WIlma Galvante, for giving me a great drama project like ‘Positive’.”

This is his second acting award as he has previously won best actor in a movie for “Zombadings”. But in his new movie, “#ewankosausranghaeyo”, he plays a supporting role as one of the teachers in an arts academy where the lead stars, Barbie Forteza and Francis Magundayao, study. Is it okay for him to play a supporting role to these teen stars?

“Oo naman,” he says. “It’s like you pay it forward kasi noong nagsisimula pa lang ako, sinuportahan din ako ng mas mga beteranong artista kaysa sa’kin. Maganda naman yung role ko bilang teacher nilang nagbibigay sila ng advice at kapareha ko rito si Diane Medina as my co-teacher.”

Another reason he agreed to do the movie is because it’s the directorial debut of Roman Perez, Jr. “Marami ko nang beses na nakasama si Direk Roman noong assistant director pa siya sa GMA-7 and also sa TV5, like in ‘Positive’. So I’m just happy na matulungan siya ngayong mabigyan siya ng break as full length film director dito sa ‘#ewankosau’ that opens in theatres this Wednesday. Nakakatuwa naman siyang tulungan kasi may promise siya as a filmmaker. Tiyak kong magugustuhan ng viewers itong ‘#ewankosau’ lalo yung mahihilig sa romantic comedies.”

Martin is now regularly seen in TV5’s gag show on Saturday nights, ‘Tropang Unli, Nice Di Ba’. He has also gone back to college and is now taking up hotel & restaurant managent in STI College in Alabang. “Iba rin kasi yung may college degree ka,” he says.
And we agree with that, totally.
