Protege Winner Thea Tolentino Says She And Co-Stars In 'Half Sisters' Not Scared Now That 'Flordeliza' Is Pitted Against Them

PROTEGE WINNER Thea Tolentino has played a lead role in “Pyra, Babaeng Apoy” but she’s now better known as a contravida to Barbie Forteza in “The Half Sisters”, GMA-7’s highest rating afternoon soap. “Kami mismo, nagugulat sa taas ng ratings ng show namin,” she says. “Ilang beses na kaming na-extend and, by March, one year na kami on the air.”

She just got her first apparel endorsement as the face of Boardwalk for their We Love It casual shirts and tees collection, along with Jeric Gonzales. “Makikita ninyo ako wearing Boardwalk apparel in ‘Half Sisters’ kasi bagay yung clothes nila for my role as Ashley.”

What can she say that the comeback show of Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, “Flordeliza”, is now pitted against “Half Sisters”? “Napag-usapan nga namin na for the longest time, wala kaming kalaban sa kabila, pero ngayon, tinapatan na kami. So we’ll just consider it as a good challenge para mas mapaganda namin ang show at nang hindi kami iwanan ng viewers na sumusubaybay sa amin. Abangan nila kasi mas marami pang twists na mangyayari sa story to surprise them.”

She seems so at home as the villainous Ashley who makes life hell for Barbie as Diana. “Yes, sanay na akong magmaldita. Dito ko na-realize na mas bagay talaga sa akin na ako yung role na nang-aapi kaysa ako yung inaapi. May viewers ngang nagagalit sa akin. May store kami sa Calamba, Laguna, where we live at, minsan, may naghahanap sa akin doon at gusto kong awayin. We have to make them realize that I’m just playing a role.”
