RAFAEL ROSELL’s last show was the afternoon soap “The Borrowed Wife” five months ago. It’s only now that he’s given a new drama series, “Second Chances”. What did he do in between?
“I did a movie with Regal, ‘Dilim’, with Kylie Padilla and Rayver Cruz,” he says. “Also, I was a guest in an episode of ‘Magpakailanman’. I’m happy na itong bago kong show is on primetime naman kasi my other shows before, like ‘Borrowed Wife’ and ‘Maghihintay Pa Rin’, puro panghapon. My last primetime soap was ‘Temptation of Wife’ pa three years ago with Marian Rivera.”
Rafael is one cause-oriented actor. He is an advocate of eating health foods, using marijuana for medical purposes, and is now also pushing kids to read instead of just playing video games or watching TV.
“I really want to encourage people to rediscover the joy of reading as it will cultivate not only their vocabulary but also their imagination,” he says.
Recently, he participated in Araw ng Pagbasa, a storytelling activity led by GMA Network for 80 kids from Daang Tubo, Barangay UP Campus, an adopted community of the Network under its CSR platform, Kapuso ng Kalikasan. “I believe in this advocacy kasi literacy is very important in our young people. Reading not only provides entertainment but also propagates learning with the wealth of information which can be found in books.”
He is happy to be playing the role of Jerome in “Second Chances”. “May gusto ako kay Jennylyn but then, naunahan ako sa kanya ng best friend ko at kapwa lawyer na si Luis Alandy so I gave way. But then, Luis is killed by his enemies, along with their only son, so nagkaroon uli ako ng chance kay Jen. Kaya lang, si Raymart Santiago naman ang pumasok this time kaya lumabo na naman ang chance ko kay Jen. But something will happen in the course of the story that will give me yet another chance on Jen. Yun ang abangan nyo.”
