AFTER GIVING birth to Baby Zion, Sarah Lahbati did the TV movie “More than Words” with TV5. Now, she’s really back on the big screen in “Liwanag sa Dilim”, an adventure-mystery movie directed by Richard Somes and produced by APT Entertainment of Mr. Antonio P. Tuviera. The film’s PR, Jun Nardo, stresses that this is not an indie movie but a mainstream production. “Big budget ito, kaya pati presscon to promote it, ginawa sa malaking venue,” he proudly announces.
The venue is the new cavernous ballroom of Max at Sct. Tuason and it’s the first showbiz affair to be held in it. The movie topbills the JaBea love team, Jake Vargas and Bea Binene, but Sarah Lahbati stands out as Minerva, the woman of mystery living in the forest who is suspected of causing the horrific death of many people in a town called Estancia.
Sarah says she had to make some adjustment when they started shooting the movie. “Nasanay na kasi akong matulog ng maaga after I had Baby Zion,” she says. “By 8 PM, usually tulog na kami at maaga rin kami gumising. So sa shooting, kapag puyatan na, I have to take three cups of coffee to keep me awake. Kinaya ko naman. I’m really glad to be part of this movie kasi maganda talaga ang role ko as a woman with many secrets. Maraming revelations na magaganap sa character ko.”
It’s good her partner, Richard Gutierrez, allowed her to make a movie comeback. “Oo naman. He understands that I love acting and I find fulfilment here kaya pumayag siyang gumawa uli ako ng movie. Very supportive naman siya when it comes to my career. Nag-enjoy rin akong gawin ang movie kasi puro mga bata ang kasama ko sa cast, like Jake, Bea, Julian Trono and Igiboy Flores. Nahahawa ako sa energy nila at lagi kaming masaya sa set.”
