Zsa Zsa Padilla On Rumor That She Wants To Sell Dolphy's House But Their Daughter Zia Is Against It

ZSA ZSA PADILLA is happy to finally get the best actress trophy she won at the Metro Manila Filmfest New Wave Category last December for her performance as the dying lawyer in “M, My Mother’s Maiden Name”. This was handed to her by Quantum Films producer, Atty. Joji Alonso, who is releasing “M” in selected SM and Ayala mall theatres on Wednesday, January 21.

Atty. Joji is also the producer of the Metro filmfest mainstream hit, “English Only, Please”, which is expected to hit the P150 million mark this weekend as it is on extended run in several theatres.

It’s good Zsa Zsa allowed herself to be helmed by a neophyte writer-director, Zig Dulay, in “M”. “I read his script at nagandahan ako sa role ko as Atty. Bella Monteclaro,” she says. “Mataray siya at ang gaganda ng maraming lines ko rito na quotable quotes. Maganda rin ang story about two moms, ako at si Gloria Sevilla. I discover I’m dying from pancreatic cancer and siya naman, she has a daughter, Sue Prado, who’s dying from chronic liver disease. The film also comments on the disparity of health treatments between the rich and the poor in our country. Maganda rin ang relationship ko rito with my son who’s gay, si Nico Antonio. Lahat ng friends kong nakapanood sa movie during its initial run last December really liked it. Tawa raw sila nang tawa sa maraming scenes but in the end, napaiyak sila kasi puro reality situations ang ipinakikita.”

How come she didn’t make it to the awards night? “I was then in Coron, Palawan. Kris Aquino, who hosted the awards night, just texted me na I won.”

Does she have a new teleserye? “No, this year, I’m concentrating on my singing. I’m releasing a new album with PolyEast and I have a Valentine concert with Piolo Pascual and Ogie Alcasid at Music Museum on February 14, directed by Johnny Manahan.”

Do we hear wedding bells ringing for her and BF Conrad Onglao soon? “No, Dolphy and I lived together for 23 years at okay naman kami. Of course, I still believe in marriage, but nagka-phobia ako noong pakakasal na sana kami ni Dolphy but hindi natuloy due to a legal technicality.”

Is it true she wants to sell their house in Marina Bay but her daughter Zia is vehemently against it and holed herself up inside her room? “No. Walang ganyan. We don’t intend to sell the house at hindi nagkukulong si Zia sa kanyang kuwarto.”
