LANI MISALUCHA finally joined Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez and Gary Valenciano at the grand and final presscon of their Valentine show, “Ultimate”, this coming Friday and Saturday at the MOA Arena. She was absent in the first presscon as she arrived from the U.S. only last February 1. Lani looks so slim and young you won’t suspect she’s already a grandmother.
“Yes, yung daughter kong nag-asawa has given birth to a baby boy at tuwang-tuwa ang aming buong family,” she says. “Totoo palang nakakaloka ang magkaroon ng apo. Heto nga, nami-miss na namin ng husband kong si Noli yung aming apo while we’re here in Manila for the Ultimate concert at habang nasa States naman sila. May mga nagre-request nga na i-repeat agad ang concert but I cannot commit. Kasi, after, our concert, kailangan ko ring bumalik na sa Las Vegas, dahil may mga iniwanan din akong commitments doon. This is also the reason why hindi nga ako makapag-stay dito nang matagal. When I’m here, sa condominium na lang ng auntie ko ako nag-stay. Kasi yung bahay namin, pinauupahan ko rin.”
How is it sharing the same stage with Martin, Gary and Regine? “Definitely, intimidated ako. Kasi before I joined showbiz, they’ve long been in the business. 17 years pa lang ako sa singing, e. When I started singing professionally, married with children na ako. E, ako, mahiyain talaga ako, very reserved. So nang una ko silang makasama, nahihiya ako kasi ito yung mga pinanonood ko lang nung araw.”
At the first presscon, Martin revealed that she has this habit of burping before a show. “Yes, I burp. But it’s not only me. My mom and my kids, ganun din. And we’re told dahil yun sa acid reflux.”
What are the things she finds endearing in her three co-singers? “Si Gary, it’s his spirituality. You can feel it in him, that God loves you and you are special. Si Regine naman, she’s very funny. She laughs a lot. Nakakatawa siyang mag-host. I was a guest sa show niya, ‘Bet ng Bayan’, at tawa ako nang taw. She’s also very giving, very generous. Si Martin naman, walang sinisino. Lahat sa kanya, pantay-pantay ang tingin niya, from the janitor to the big bosses. Sa isang concert namin, he even served all the band members.”
New singers try to imitate her style. Does she get annoyed? “No, natutuwa nga ako. Sa youtube nga, ang daming gumagaya sa’kin, pati yung paghiga-higa ko habang kumakanta ako. Tawa ako nang tawa. They can imitate all they want, pero siempre, iba pa ring original.”
