SOLENN HEUSSAFF admits she’s now officially engaged to Argentinian BF Nico Bolzico but quickly adds it does not mean they’re walking down the aisle anytime soon. “Definitely not this year,” she says. “Ang dami ng engaged at magpapakasal this year, di ba? But even if we’ve planned it na, I’ll keep it a secret. Bigla na lang, malalaman nyo, kasal na kami. Most probably, abroad. I want to keep it simple, quiet, private, not showbiz.”
So how will they celebrate Valentine? “We don’t celebrate it,” she says. “We’ve been together for four years and for us, it’s nothing special. It’s overrated. It’s just like any other day for me. If you really love each other, you don’t need to wait for Valentine’s Day to express it. Isa pa, I won’t be here on Valentine to show your love. Also, on Valentine, I’ll go to Balesin Island for the wedding of our friend Heart Evangelista to Sen. Chiz Escudero.”
What’s her wish for them? “I can see Heart is very happy so I’m happy for them. They’re a good match. They seem to bring out the best in each other so I wish their marriage will be for keeps.”
What does she find endearing in Nico? “He’s very good in boosting my self confidence. There are times when I doubt myself and he reminds me of the things I’m good at.”
How come she doesn’t have a new teleserye? “Okay lang, kasi mas gusto ko talaga mag-host kaysa acting. I’m enjoying ‘Taste Buddies’ now on GMA News TV with my new co-host, Yia Villania (who replaced Isabelle Daza after she moved to ABS-CBN). Iba yung tandem namin kasi super kalog siya, makulit at pareho kaming walang pakialam. But I’m doing a new movie with Rocco Nacino about bikers, directed by Ellen Ongkeko. Ang cute ng story and it’s tentatively titled ‘Bike Love’. Then, in April, I’ll do another horror movie with Direk Peque Gallaga after we did ‘T’yanak’.”
She’s also performing in the big OPM concert on February 20, “MuSIKATin”, at Philippine Arena. “I’m excited kasi I’ll do a duet of ‘Bakit Ngayon ka Lang’ with Ogie Alcasid. Sobrang nervous din ako kasi it’s a classic and everyone knows that song kaya dapat, pagbutihin ko talaga.”
She’s also opening two new restaurants in Salcedo Village, Makati. “One is Sabaw, specializing in all kinds of Filipino soups like sinigang, tinola, nilaga. The other one is Sprout, with my brother Erwan. Next month, my friend Georgina Wilson and I are launching our own book called ‘The Bestie Project’. We open ourselves up and share our views on love, sex, fashion, make up, lifestyle. We ourselves edited it, proof read it and we’re also publishing it. Then in July, I’m launching my own line of make up and perfume. As you can see, I’m really busy, busy, busy.”
