“Of course, it’s an honor to share the same stage with Ogie and all the other OPM stars who are with us in the concert,” she says. “I really got excited kaya nag-yes ako agad kasi we are paying tribute to original Pilipino hits through several decades. Excited din ako sa venue, Philippine Arena, sobrang laki raw at first time kong mag-perform doon so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m sure it will be a different kind of experience for performers like us.”
Vernie laughs off the story that she prefers to be retired and is no longer interested in performing because she’s now rich, being married to a jewelry magnate.
“Sobra naman yun. Baka maniwala ang mga tao. It’s their family’s business, not mine. I’ve been doing a lot of corporate shows naman. Also, malalaki na ang mga anak ko. The eldest is 21 and the youngest is 16.”
Performing with Vernie in “MuSIKATin” this coming Friday at 8 PM are Hajji Alejandro, Mr. Rey Valera, Michael V, Angeline Quinto, Lovi Poe, Solenn Heussaff, Gloc-9, the Dawn's Jett Pangan, with Maestro Ryan Cayabyab as musical director.
