Wynwyn Marquez, Alma Moreno & Joey Marquez' Daughter, A Standout In The Bb. Pilipinas Pageant

AFTER THE PRESS presentation of the contestants in the annual Bb. Pilipinas pageant, most writers agree that Wynwyn Marquez, daughter of Alma Moreno and Joey Marquez, has a good chance of winning one of the major titles. She’s tall, has the right curves and a truly beautiful morena beauty. Not only that, she’s also articulate and excelled in the talent portion where she showed her dancing talents.

If she’d win, this wouldn’t be surprising as she is just following in the footsteps of her aunt, 1979 Miss International Melanie Marquez. “She’s a great source of inspiration for me,” she says. “She projects so much self confidence and that’s very important in a beauty contest.”

Won’t her being in showbusiness be a disadvantage? “Not at all. Kasi, dahil sa showbiz career ko, I gained a lot of wonderful experiences in meeting all sorts of people. Dahil doon, nasanay na rin ako sa criticisms since it will always be there, left and right. Through showbusiness, I can say mas tumaas ang self esteem ko.”

Does she expect to win? “Yun ang name ko, di ba? So hindi ako magiging true to myself if I’d say na wala akong expectations. But let’s face it, this is a competition. Lahat kaming nagko-compete, may chance na manalo. So I’ll just try to do my best and pray na sana nga, win win ako.”

What do her parents, Alma and Joey, say? “They’re both very supportive. They told me to do my best.”

The Bb. Pilipinas coronation night will be held at the Araneta Coliseum on March 15.
