CARLA ABELLANA renewed her contract with GMA Network for another three years. She's been a faithful Kapuso star for six years and says she's perfectly happy with the network that built up her career. "I don't see myself going anywhere else. Ito 'yung home ko kaya dito ako talaga, I belong here. I love the people here, mga nakangiti silang lahat. So sabi ko, ito pa rin 'yung mga makakatrabaho ko for the next three years."
Someone quips she can't leave because her rumored BF, Tom Rodriguez, is also a Kapuso. "We're okay," she says. "But pareho kaming parang natatakot na lagyan ng label whatever we have now. Pareho kaming natatakot tanungin ‘yung isa’t isa, ‘Ano bang title or label?’ So as of now, we're just going with the flow."
Present during the contract signing were GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon; GMA President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr.; GMA Entertainment TV's Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable; GMA Vice President for Entertainment TV Marivin T. Arayata; GMA Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie Acuña-Magno; GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara; GMA Assistant Vice President for Drama Productions Cheryl Ching-Sy; and Carla's manager Arnold Vegafria. Atty. Gozon is pleased that Carla has affirmed her loyalty with them, "Tayo ang nag-offer kay Carla sa pag-renew. Kitang-kita nyo naman si Carla, hindi lamang maganda kundi mahusay pang artista, loyal pa sa atin. Tinitingnan natin lahat 'yan. So wala ka nang mahihingi pa kay Carla. And we consider ourselves lucky to have Carla again."
GMA Network has maintained a good relationship with Carla over the years, and the management expresses how easy it is to work with people who share a common ground. Ms. Rasonable attests, "Kapag masaya ang both camps sa isa't isa, formality na lang yung pag-uusap. Mabilis na lang nagkakaintindihan. Carla will do another major soap. She'll start working siguro in two months, towards the middle of the year. She also has another project with News and Public Affairs, and then tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang 'Ismol Family' sitcom niya with Ryan Agoncillo as it's doing very well and then she also has 'Sunday All Stars'.
