The official reason given is that because times have changed with the advent of social media and the show itself has to evolved. "Marami nang naganap sa mundong ito," Boy continues. "The world has changed. At ang way ng news reporting, including showbiz news reporting, nabago na rin. So pansamantala kaming mawawala sa ere. We want to step backward para makita namin nang mas malinaw kung nasaan kami at nasaan na rin po kayo. Para pag bumalik kami, isang malaking pagbabago ang iyong aabangan, but it hurts, because it hurts to say goodbye. Pero pangako, magbabalik po kami. Because showbiz news is here to stay and the talk show is here to say."
What Boy said is true. The world has changed. Showbiz talk shows are not that much in demand anymore because stars themselves report what's happening in their lives directly on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. As of now, only "Startalk" is the remaining showbiz talk show and Boy himself started hosting it on GMA-7 18 years ago before he moved to ABS-CBN. Some folks say jokingly that "The Buzz" decided to sign off because it got scared of two new shows from the two rival networks. GMA-7 started airing "InstaDad" last Sunday right against "The Buzz" in its Sunday afternoon timeslot. While TV5 started airing last Monday its new daily showbiz talk show, "Showbiz Konek na Konek" hosted by Bianca King, MJ Marfori and IC Mendoza, and it aims to make extensive use of social media in reporting showbiz news. From what we heard, the show that will replace "The Buzz" will still have Boy as main anchor, but he will have several other co-hosts to host its coming different segments.
