LUIS ALANDY played a short role in “Second Chances” as Jennylyn Mercado’s ill-fated husband. He now plays a full length role in the shows that replaces it after it ends tonight, “The Rich Man’s Daughter”. He will play Rhian Ramos’ fiance who later finds out that his rival for her affectionis a lesbian, Glaiza de Castro. He has actually started taping the show with Marian Rivera. How did he feel when Marian resigned from the show?
“Siempre nanghinayang ako kasi first time sana naming magiging magkapareha,” he says. “But I understand her situation. Mas mahalaga ang safety ng first baby nila. Actually, natakot din ako when I heard she resigned. Naisip ko, baka hindi na ituloy ang project. Sayang naman. Pero kahit wala na siya, she told GMA-7 to continue with the show and saludo ako roon sa kanya.”
So how is it working with Rhian as Marian’s replacement in “The Rich Man’s Daughter” that starts airing on Monday night? “We quickly became comfortable with each other kasi madali siyang pakisamahan. She’s very communicative. She would always crack a joke or strike a conversation with you para maging at ease kayo sa isa’t isa. We usually talk about how we’ll do each scene. Si Rhian naman is very sensitive so magaan siyang katrabaho. We’re all happy na siya yung nakuhang pumalit sa role ni Marian.”
His role as a man who gets into a relationship with a woman who has a lesbian affair actually happened to him in real life when he became on with Desire del Valle who was reported to have married a lesbian in Las Vegas. “Naku, matagal na yun. Dati ko na siyang crush noong nasa ABS pa ako, ‘Tabing Ilog’ days pa. At saka, magkaiba naman ang sitwasyon kasi engaged to be married na ako kay Rhian dito nang maka-affair niya si Glaiza de Castro.”
Luis is quite lucky as he’s busy even in the movies. He has finished the action drama that is a tribute to the Philippine Marines, “Mandirigma”, directed by Arlyn de la Cruz. The lead role was originally offered to Derek Ramsay, who’s so busy he begged off and the role went to Luis instead. Luis also just completed the sexy drama, “Anino sa Likod ng Buwan”, where he does daring scenes with LJ Reyes, directed by Jun Lana.
“I’m really thankful to the Lord for all the good projects coming my way both sa big and small screen,” he beams. “Sana, magtuloy-tuloy.”
