In the movies, he made a very wrong move when he turned down “English Only, Please”, which went to Derek Ramsay, became a blockbuster and won a best actor award for Derek. Instead, he played anti-hero roles in his last films, “Kimmy Dora 3: Kiyemeng Prequel” and “The Gifted”, which sadly, didn’t help forward his career as a lead actor. Well, here’s hoping that Regal Entertainment will succeed in bringing back the luster in his career in “Prenup”, where he plays leading man to Jennylyn Mercado in a movie to be shot on location in New York no less. “Prenup” refers to a pre-nuptial agreement that both bride and groom sign to prove that they have no interest in acquiring each other’s riches in case their marriage ends in failure. Does Sam believe in it? “Not really,” he says. “When two people get married, it should be their love for each other which should matter. Hindi kung ano yung napagkasunduan.”
Sam was the best man to John Prats when John was married to Isabel Oli at the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Chapel in Lipa City last Saturday, May 16. The maid of honor was Angelica Panganiban. Both Sam and Angelica are the best friends of John after they worked together in some comedy shows at ABS-CBN. Sam and John are both 31 years old. “No, I plan to get married when I’m 35,” he says.
