Derek Ramsay Wins In Peplist And Is Featured In U.S. TV Show 'Planet Primetime'

DEREK RAMSAY was a big winner at the recent PEPList Awards at Solaire Hotel. His TV show, "Amazing Race Philippines, Season 2", won as best talk-variety show and he himself won as best talk-variety show host. Too bad he wasn't able to get to the venue that night to personally receive his trophies due to a previous commitment. He tried to follow but it rained hard that night and the traffic going to Solaire was horrible.

"I really want to the thank PEP for the honor," he says. "And also TV5 for giving me the chance to do Season 2 of 'Amazing Race'. Baka dahil sa awards ng PEP, magka-season 3 na kami."

Derek is also happy that the U.S. TV show, 'Planet Primetime' on the Travel Channel is featuring him and the finale special of his adventure-reality program, 'Extreme Series'. The host, Karla Cavalli, travels around the world to explore the wildest, funniest and most popular TV programs on our planet, using TV as a cultural touchstone to provide a window into the soul of a nation. Among the unique stories it has featured are Brazil's Miss Bum Bum competition, weird Japanese game shows, India's Bollywood comedies and Israel's dramas. For our country, it became interested with Dereks 'Extreme Series' featuring daredevil stunts.

In the finale, Derek is shown jumping from a helicopter 15 feet above sea level and plunging 30 feet deep into the sea under him. From there, he will swim and meet Karla on the shores of Camaya Coast where he will challenge her to climb a coconut tree. This has already been shown on TV5 and it will later be show in Karla's own show. This is indeed quite an accomplishment for Derek, establishing him as the most daring and courageous among our TV hosts today.
