MEGAN YOUNG is understandably excited about the new version of "Marimar" which will topbill her in the iconic title role. This is her first starring role after she won as the first Filipina who won in the Miss world pageant. It is scheduled to start taping this weekend, with Tom Rodriguez playing the leading man, Sergio. Obviously, GMA-7 doesn't think it's wise to pair her with her real life squeeze, Mikael Daez.
"I'm excited pero siempre, may kaba rin, may pressure, kasi we all know how successful the first local Marimar was, which launched Marian Rivera to superstardom," she says. "I just wish I won't be compared with Marian or even Thalia kasi we're different persons naman. Basta I will promise I will do my best para hindi ako mapahiya sa GMA for giving me this very big project. Our director, Dominic Zapata, says we will have a fresh new take on the story of 'Marimar'. Magiging faithful sa core ng original story, pero magkakaroon daw ng kaunting mga pagbabago here and there to update it and to make it more interesting to today's viewers. Sana rin, makausap ko si Marian Rivera so I can some tips from her on how best to play the role."
Megan and Tom will be supported in the new 'Marimar' by Jaclyn Jose, Megan's sister Lauren, Dion Ignacio, Jaya, Carmi Martin, Cris Villanueva, Ricardo Cepeda, Frank Magalona and Maricris Garcia.
