Polo Ravales Plays Villain In 'Of Saints & Sinners', Leaves GMA & Moves To ABS-CBN

POLO RAVALES plays his most challenging role to date as the abusive husband of Chanel Latorre in the Filipino New Cinema World Premieres Filmfest entry, "Of Saints and Sinners". "Sobrang sama ng character o rito," he says. "May scene na ni-rape ko ang sarili kong asawa. Sabi ng direktor, gawin kong realistic kaya natakot si Chanel, akala niya tototohanin ko."

"Totoo yun," Chanel agrees at the Filipino New Cinema presscon. "Grabe, kasi very convincing ang acting niya. Ang dami niyang nabasag na mga gamit habang nagwawala siya para gahasain ako. I was so scared masasaktan talaga ako sa eksena but in fairness to him, naging maingat siya sa akin."

The movie is written, produced and directed by Fil-Italian actor-filmmaker Ruben Maria Soriquez, who also stars in the lead role as a priest who tries to help Chanel and other battered women like Althea Vega. He grew up in Italy with his mom but he has a Pinoy father and a Pinay wife.

Going back to Polo, how come he doesn't have a new assignment with GMA-7? "Oo nga, my last series was 'Ilustrado' pa shown in December," he says. "Nami-miss ko na nga magteleserye uli. But we have arrangements now with ABS-CBN. I just don't know with my manager, Manny Valera, as to when I will start taping with them."
