AT THE PRESSCON for the Main Competition entries of the ongoing World Premiere's Filmfest in SM Cinemas, we asked the foreign directors present about the current state of their own local film industry. They said they hardly have a big film industry as viewers prefer Hollywood movies to local films, which is also the situation in our own country. The Indonesian representative says that most of the films produced in their country are the so-called indie films.
Also, viewers would rather download movies in the internet for free than watch them in theaters, which is likewise our situation here. It seems the problem of piracy is really rampant worldwide.
