GMA NETWORK launches its first ever multi-platform boy band competition, "To the Top", set to air starting Saturday, July 18, 7:30 PM, featuring 18 young and talented singer contestants. Maestro Ryan Cayabyab is the main judge, with Moy Ortiz, Sweet Plantado and OJ Mariano of iconic singing group, The Company, as vocal coaches.
The dance coaches are Philippine All Stars alumni Madelle and Prince Paituob and international breakdancing champ Jesse Reflex Gotangco.The musical arrangers and sound engineers are led by Jonathan Ong and his team from Sonic State Audio: Chino David, Chrisanthony Vinzons and Brian Lotho, with Mark Nicdao as photographer. The show's webisodes will be hosted by Julian Trono, who recently went to Korea to undergo K-pop training.
GMA invited the best male singers from various schools to join the auditions. After several tryouts, 25 semi-finalists were chosen, which was trimmed down to the final 18. These are AJ Ajrouche, Lance Busa, Ken Carpena, Mico Cruz, Cholo de la Cruz, Martin de Vera, Luis Gragera, Joshua Jacobe, MJ Magno, Miko Manguba, Seph Manlapaz, Bryan Olano, JP Palanca, Adrian Pascual, Louise Pedroso, Chris Yumang, Lharby Policarpio (who starred in the acclaimed indie film, "Esprit de Corp") and Edric Ulang (winner of 2012 Mr. Pogi contest in "Eat Bulaga").
