Allen Dizon Happy To Be Doing Mainstream TV Work In 'Doble Kara' After Winning Several Best Actor Awards For Indie Film 'Magkakabaung'

ALLEN DIZON is proud that after winning several best actor awards, not only here but also in film festivals abroad, for the indie film “Magkakabaung”, he’s now doing a mainstream TV series, “Doble Kara”, on ABS-CBN.

“This is not really my first show with them kasi I did ‘Nasaan si Elisa’ before in 2012,” he says. “Pero much bigger project itong ‘Doble Kara’ at puro magagaling talaga ang mga kasama ko so I’m very thankful na napasama ako rito sa project na ito ng Dreamscape, along with the likes of Julia Montes, Gloria Sevilla, Mylene Dizon, Edgar Allan Guzman, Ariel Rivera, Patricia Javier, John Lapus. This is my biggest break with them after doing two recent good roles sa ‘Ipaglaban Mo’. But once nag-start ang airing ng ‘Doble Kara’, hindi muna ko makakatanggap ng show sa ibang networks, like sa TV5 where I did an episode of ‘LolaBasyang.Com’ a few weeks ago.”

He had to sacrifice the movie that he’s supposed to do with Cannes Filmfest best director Dante Mendoza, just so he can be a part of “Doble Kara” that starts airing tomorrow replacing “Flordeliza”. “Nanghihinayang nga rin ako but since this is a regular soap, I had to make a choice. Baka maapektuhan ang taping kapag nagsu-shoot na and I don’t want that to happen kasi nakakahiya sa ABS at sa Dreamscape. Baka hindi na ako kunin uli. I’m sure naiintindihan naman si Direk Dante ang naging decision ko at nagpaalam naman ako sa kanya nang maayos na hindi ko kayang pagsabayin ang movie at ang soap.”

He has to make some adjustments for “Doble Kara”. “Iba kasi ang acting sa TV, sa soap. Mas malalaki ang movements. Sa movie kasi, mas pinapaboran ang underacting. But I welcome doing TV kasi sunod-sunod yung indie films na ginawa ko. As of now, katatapos ko lang gawin ang two new movies. Una yung ‘Iadya Mo Kami’ for Direk Mel Chionglo with Diana Zubiri, Aiko Melendez and Ricky Davao. Then yung ‘Sekyu’ for Direk Joel Lamangan, with Sunshine Dizon naman.”
