She was the first girl in their batch to be launched to solo stardom in “Mira Bella”, opposite Enrique Gil. But as we now all know, the show didn’t do as well as expected and her career didn’t really take off. Enrique was paired with Liza Soberano in “Forevermore” and the results were definitely much more satisfactory, including the huge box office take of their first movie, “Just the Way You Are”.
Everyone says Julia’s career was adversely affected by the rift she had with her dad. They tried to do some damage control later by patching things up with him and inviting him to her debut but, apparently, this ploy didn’t achieve its desired effect.
She was paired with Piolo’s son, Inigo Pascual, in “Para sa Hopeless Romantic”, where they supported the more established James Reid-Nadine Lustre love team. The movie didn’t do as big as the tills as the JaDine tandem’s previous starrers and JaDine fans blamed the inclusion of the Julia-Inigo love team in it.
Julia and Inigo were given their own teleserye and it’s been taping for sometime now. The latest news about it is that taping has been stopped. One story said ABS-CBN big bosses are not satisfied with Julia’s acting, which is not credible since we saw then that Julia can really act quite effectively. Another says the executive committee that watched it felt that its story isn’t working and it will have to be rewritten. This doesn’t augur well for both Julia and Inigo. Talk about starting on the wrong foot.
Well, let’s face it. At this point, it’s difficult for another love team to succeed as ABS already has three existing love teams who are all top raters and who all have its respective hordes of loyal fans: Kathniel, LizQuen and JaDine. For sure, the so-called JulNigo fans will find it hard to catch up and just be left behind.
Also, ABS should listen to the remarks of some writers that the JulNigo love team doesn’t have much attractive chemistry. Aside from being the fact that he’s the son of Piolo, there’s nothing much going on for Inigo. He sorely lacks that incandescent something called star quality compared to James Reid or Daniel Padilla. Maybe Piolo should have just really insisted that it’d be better for him to concentrate on his studies and pursuing higher education in the States as he will always surely fail in comparison when compared to this more successful dad, which is inevitable.
