Lauren Young Happy To Make Her Sister Megan's Life Miserable In The New Remake Of 'Marimar' On GMA-7

LAUREN YOUNG plays Antonia, one of the villains to her elder sister Megan in the latest reincarnation of "Marimar" on GMA-7 that starts this Monday after "24 Oras". Didn't she feel awkward about it?

"Actually, pareho kaming nahirapang mag-concentrate na dalawa sa respective roles namin," she says. "Noong una, naglolokohan pa kami. I never expected kasi na one day, we will end na magkakasama kami pareho sa GMA-7 and I'll be a villain to her. It's not really a part of my plans but now na nandito na, better now than never and we have to make the most of it. Pagdating sa set, we really have to be serious sa taping kasi work na talaga kami. Eventually, I realized mas madaling magkontrabida when the one you're making api is really your sister. Kasi alam nyo parehong walang personalan, so yung pananakit is not really an issue. In one scene, sinabunutan ko na nga siya. O di ba? Miss World, sinabunutan ko! Wala siyang angal, but ako, I have to be careful kasi baka sumama yung hair extensions niya. Ha ha ha!"

She's personally happy for her sister to have bagged the coveted role of "Marimar". "I think it's the best project for her after her stint as Miss World," she adds. "But I can feel the pressure on her kasi nakaka-tension naman dahil talagang mataas ang expectations ng tao about the project. But I believe in her as I can see na focused talaga siya sa role niya as 'Marimar'. We have such high hopes that the project will be a very big hit once it starts airing this Monday."

Didn't she dream somehow that she's the one who's playing the lead role of 'Marimar'? "No, not at all. I like my role as Antonia. I'm now very comfortable doing kontrabida roles. I think this is really my calling in showbiz."

How come Megan won't admit that she and Mikael Daez are in a relationship? "Ay, ewan ko sa kanya. Basta ako, may boyfriend ako."

She's happy to have a non-showbiz boyfriend, Robbie Garcia, unlike when she was being linked to Elmo Magalona and the fans of his love team with Julie Anne San Jose were often bashing her. "Basta mas masaya talaga ako dahil walang namba-bash sa amin ng boyfriend ko ngayon. My life is happier now kasi I have a very awesome boyfriend who's very mature smart and supportive sa career ko, also a good family life and I am in a new show that gives me the chance to work with my own sister, so Thank You, Lord! O, baka magka-basher na ako ngayon nito, ha! Ha ha ha!"

Playing Lauren's mom in the show is Jaclyn Jose as Angelica Santibanez, also the mother of Tom Rodriguez as Sergio. Their mayordoma is Candy Pangilinan as Perfecta while the other maid in their mansion, Corazon, is played by Jaya. Playing Marimar's parents are Alice Dixson as Mia and Zoren Legaspi as Gustavo Aldama. Marimar grew up with her grandparents, Nova Villa as Lola Cruz and Tommy Abuel as Lolo Pancho. Supporting them are Carmi Martin as Esperanza Aldama, the cousin of Gustavo; Ina Raymundo as Brenda, who's in love with Gustavo; Dion Ignacio as Nicandro, a dishonest staffer in the island of the Santibanez family; Ricardo Cepeda as Renato, Sergio's dad; Cris Villanueva as Padresito Porres, the parish priest; Frank Magalona as Sergio's friend and Ashley Cabrera as Cruzita, Sergio's little sister who loves Marimar.
