Aiza says she was surprised when she had to leave ASAP due to her participation in “Princess in the Palace”. “I was told to get a leave of absence,” she says. “I was surprised kasi tuwing Sunday lang ang ‘ASAP’ and weekdays naman itong ‘Princess in the Palace’, so hindi sila direct competitors. Hindi naman ako exclusive to just one network so I felt puede akong lumabas kahit saan, basta hindi direktang magkatapat ang mga program. Hindi na lang ako nagtanong pa kung bakit. No hard feelings na lang. I understand and respect their decision. But yes, I did feel bad kasi I will miss the people I work with ASAP. Bale six years ago doon and I will the Sessionistas I sing with kasi naging habit na sa kin being a member of the group. Pero siguro, alam naman nating mahigpit ang kompetisyon ngayon with the networks, lalo na with the Aldub issue, medyo fierce yun, so yes, I think’, they’re just protecting themselves. Sabi raw nila, they don’t want to set a precedent at baka gawin din ng ibang artists sa kanila, so that’s fine.”
We’re just wondering why Boots Anson-Rodrigo, who’s also part of ‘Princess in the Palace’ as the scheming stepmother of Eula Valdes, is allowed to cross to not just one but two other networks. Boots also has a new soap with ABS-CBN, “Walang Iwanan”, which has yet to start airing, but aside from “Prince in the Palace” on GMA-7, she also stars in the title role as “Lola Basyang.com” on TV5.
Will Aiza now do guestings in “Sunday Pinasaya” that is also produced by TAPE and APT, like “Princess in the Palace”? “Hindi siguro. Kasi never akong nag-guest sa kanilang ‘It’s Showtime’ out of delicadez dahil sa kalaban nitong show ako nagsimula, ‘Eat Bulaga’. So hindi rin ako magge-guest sa ‘Sunday Pinasaya’ na kalaban naman ng ASAP.”
