EULA VALDES denies that she and her boyfriend Rocky Salumbides, who’s also part of the cast of her new show, “Princess in the Palace”, are now on a package deal basis. “Hindi totoo yan, ha,” she says. “Wala akong kinalaman na nakuha rin siya rito sa show.”
It’s the show’s director, Mike Tuviera, who explained that they actually got Rocky first. “Una naming kinuha si Rocky to play Samuel, yung barangay captain sa place where Ryzza Mae Dizon lives,” he says. “Tinanong pa nga namin siya kung sino ang isa-suggest niya to play the role of the lady president in the story at ibang pangalan ang ibinigay niya, hindi si Eula. But when we asked Ryzza herself kung sino sa mga naging guests niya sa kanyang talk show ang, sa tingin niya, babagay sa role ng president, si Eula ang pinili niya. And even the staff, si Eula rin ang gusto. Kaya lang, at that time, kasama pa siya sa cast ng ‘The Half Sisters’. When we were told na matatapos na yung character niya roon, that’s when we offered the role of Pres. Leonora Clarissa Jacinto to her at nagustuhan naman niya agad. We didn’t consider any other actress.”
So how did Eula prepare for the role? “Wala akong peg na sinumang past president natin. Wala pa naman tayong naging president na matino. I just have to be careful sa mga galaw ko, dapat laging ibagay sa behavior ng isang respected leader ng bansa. I enjoy doing the show kasi gusto kong pinanggigigilan si Ryzza noon pa man. Ngayon, lagi na kaming magkasama, so napanggigilan ko na siya at kinukurot ko sa cheeks niya. Bilib talaga ako sa kanya kasi, for her age, matalino talaga siya, ang galing pumick up at mag-memorize ng lines. Very giving din siya as an actress, walang attitude at laging very pleasant kasama sa set.”
“Princess in the Palace” starts airing tomorrow morning at 11:30 as the new pre-program of “Eat Bulaga”.
