ISABELLE DAZA shocked everyone at the farewell presscon of “Nathaniel” which is now on its final week. When the cast was asked if they really believe in angels, they all said yes, but she dared to be different and said “No”. There was a brief moment of stunned silence then she said, “Joke”. She laughed. “Of course, I believe in angels. In my case, I think its my late grandmother and my Tita Rio Diaz who are my angels who’ve been guiding me.”
She feels somewhat sad that “Nathaniel” is ending. “We started taping this in November and it started airing in April so halos one year ako working in this soap at matagal na rin kaming magkakasama ng lahat ng co-stars ko rito. It’s beautiful but also painful, pero happy ako naging part ako ng show na ito which is about faith. Excited din ako to see how it will end kasi kahit final week na, nagte-taping pa rin kami.”
What does her mom say about her performance in the show as a lady lawyer who’s in a love triangle with Gerald Anderson and Shaina Magdayao? “She always tells me to make good use of my eyes and kailangan, lagi ko raw kailangan kasi you’re only as good as your last scene. You can’t make excuses na 4 AM na nang kunan ang eksena mo dahil hindi naman alam ng audience yon.”
Is she happy that her first assignment when she moved from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN is to be the third wheel in the relationship of Gerald and Shaina. “Yes, I’m happy. It’s major support but I’m very challenged. I don’t expect them naman to give me everything right away, like lead roles. Siempre, I have to prove myself muna and show kung ano yung kakayahan ko.”
But in her movie “Resureksyon” that opens in theaters tomorrow, September 23, she plays the lead role and Regal producer Roselle Monteverde is very much impressed with her performance as an OFW who comes home dead then gets resurrected as a vampire. “Magaling siya,” says Roselle. “The movie’s director, Borgy Torre, is really raving about her performance. Wala kasi siyang reklamo kahit pinahiga siya sa kabaong, naligo ng dugo and she even did her own stunts na patalon-talon siya as a vampire.”
“Mahirap yung role kung sa mahirap,” says Isabelle. “But I felt I owe it to the viewers na maging realistic talaga ang portrayal ko ng isang vampire. The truth is I have claustrophobia, the fear of enclosed spaces, so lying down in a coffin was torture for me. Buti na lang, nagawa ko nang maayos. I’m confident na those who enjoy watching scare movies will really appreciate this movie. Very careful si Direk Borgy at bago ako kinunan as vampire, nag-make up test muna ako then test shots on cam, to make sure kahit vampire daw ako, maganda pa rin ang rehistro. Abangan nyo rin ang underwater scenes namin ni Jasmine dahil exciting ang kabuuan.”
