REGINE VELASQUEZ recorded PLDT Gabay Guro’s tribute song for teachers, “Believing in Me”, for free. It’s because she believes so much in this advocacy of the PLDT-Smart Foundation, run by volunteers from PLDT Manager’s Club executives that gives importance to the overworked but underpaid teachers. The song was composed by her sister and brother in law, Cacai and Raul Mitra, also for free.
PLDT Gabay Guro has been giving me an annual show for free for teachers for 8 years now as part of their “I Inspire” campaign. This Sunday, September 27, they’ll stage another big free show called “Teacherfest” at the MOA Arena, with Regine once again leading the list of performers who’ll entertain the teachers that fly in from all over the country.
“The show starts at 1 PM and, sa dami ng performers, it lasts up to 5 PM,” says PLDT exec Gary Dujali who announced “TeacherFest” at a special presscon at Cerchio. “But as early as 6 AM, dumarating na sila at pumipila to make sure they get good seats. Aside from Regine, they’ll also be entertained by Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Kuh Ledesma, Basil Valdez, Leo Valdez, Ima Castro, James Reid, Nadine Lustre, El Gamma Penumbra, with Pops Fernandez and Tim Yap as host, also all for free. Teachers should like the Gabay Guro Facebook page to know how they can be part of the event.”
As usual, there will be a grand raffle with motorcycles from Ropali, Honda and Suzuki as prizes, a Gratour Van from Foton and as grand prizes, two houses and lots from Amaia and Perry’s Group of Companies. There will also be prizes and treats from Cyberya, Sun, Talk N Text, PECCI, First United Corp., Asian Secret, Bear Brand, Enchanted Kingdom, Ever Bilena, National Bookstore, Penshoppe, PHCare, Red Planet Hotels, Samsung, Shakeys, Toy Kingdom, etc.
PLDT should really be commended for this salute to teachers and their commitment to this noble profession by giving training, scholarships, livelihood and other life-enhancing programs so teachers can continue in their mission to change the lives of their students for the better.
