He now foray into theatre and the big screen in the stage version of “Bituing Walang Ningning” and in the acclaimed indie film, “Esoterika: Maynila”. “In ‘Bituin’, I play the role originally played by Joel Torre in the film version. I get to sing ‘Sana’y Maghintay ang Walang Hanggan’ and ‘Gusto Kita’. It will have its rerun from October to January, during all its weekend, at Resorts World. Maraming binago. From October to November, Lavinia will be played by Antoinette Taus but in December, babalik si Cris Villonco. In ‘Esoterika’, I play a promdi who goes to Manila and experience many hedonistic activities with transgenders.”
We heard he has several love scenes in the movie. “Yes, about seven of them, with different partners. The leading transgender is Solita del Sol pero wala kaming bedscene.”
How far did he go? “Let’s just say very, very far. This is the most daring thing I’ve ever done.” How comes he was convinced by Direk Elwood Perez to do it? “Kasi I’m playing the lead role and it’s really a good “Nothing Cone. Also, some people always say kulang ako sa libog, masyado akong pa-wholesome, heto ang sagot ko roon. After this, I’m ready to do more complex, more mature roles to show na kaya ko naman umacting even in edgy roles.”
Ronnie has also released a new album distributed by Universal Records, “Songs of Love”, with nine songs: “Liwanag”, “Ngayon Lamang, “Hiling”, “She’s Always a Woman”, “Nothing Can Stop Us Now, “Dance with My Father”, Looking Thru the Eyes of Love”, “Unchained Melody” and with “Ngiti” as bonus track.
