JANINE GUTIERREZ denies the rumor that her dad, Ramon Christopher, has renewed his interrupted romance with his very first girlfriend, Kristina Paner. It will be recalled that Monching and Tina formed a love team in the late 80s and were paired in "That's Entertainment" and the movie "Tamis ng Unang Halik". Then Lotlot de Leon came along and Monching eventually married her, with Janine as their "panganay".
"Naku, hindi po totoo yun," says Janine at the presscon of her new show, "Dangwa". "Pinagtatawanan nga ni Daddy at hindi rin niya alam kung bakit may kumalat na ganyang tsismis."
How does she feel that she's no longer paired with real life BF Elmo Magalona in "Dangwa" but with Mark Herras and Aljur Abrenica? "Siempre, malungkot, kabado, kasi nasanay akong kasama ko siya. Pero okay naman po sina Mark at Aljur, comfortable ako with them. Pero very supportive si Elmo sa akin, so thankful naman ako na laging nandiyan lang siya."
The rumor is that Elmo is not paired with her because his manager (mom Pia Arroyo) wants him to follow his Ate Maxene who's now with ABS-CBN. "Ay, wala po akong alam diyan. Hindi namin napag-uusapan."
She plays the role of a mysterious love fairy who spreads love all around in "Dangwa" that starts airing today at 11 AM as pre-program for the hit Ryzza Mae Dizon's "Princess in the Palace". They have different guests every week like Geoff Eigenmann, Rhian Ramos, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali.
Janine is also glad that her wish to make a movie has been granted and this is in the horror-mystery-comedy, "Buy Now, Die Later", produced by Quantum Films and an official entry in the coming Metro-Manila Filmfest at that. This is written and directed by newbie Randolph Longjas who helmed the acclaimed indie comedy "Ang Turkey Man ay Pabo Rin". "Maganda yung movie and I'm glad it gave me the chance to work with my own mother (actually, she plays the younger version of Lotlot) and stars from the Kapamilya network like Vhong Navarro, Rayver Cruz, Alex Gonzaga and John Lapus."
