THE VIEWERSHIP of TV5 soared during the height of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas fights at the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship Finals, especially when they faced China last Saturday which rated very high. We can’t blame TV5 big boss Manny Pangilinan when he got annoyed during that crucial game because it’s obvious that China is doing a “lutong makaw” in their unfair treatment of the Pinoy players. We were cheated. This started when the Gilas electric bus that will take our players to the venue of the fight was delayed.
“Failed to charge daw,” MVP twitted. “Gilas arrival at stadium was delayed, so less time for warm up. And some of our coaches have no tickets. Also our assistant coaches. Gggrrr! Mapapaaway kami dito. Sh*t. Coach Tab warned us about these cheap tactics last night after the game vs Japan-Chinese team staying w/ us at Kempinski Hotel. All other teams inclucing Gilas in another, official hotel. That’s not following the Fiba rules. Let the team know an entire nation is behind them. Totally behind them. And praying fervently for Gilas to succeed tonight. Let the world know 12 angry men will answer the challenge of greatness. Yes we can. Yes we must. Yes we will. God bless Gilas Pilipinas!”
Even sports writers of other countries called the fight a cooking show as it’s obvious we’re cheated on the hardcourt. Still and all, we want to commend MVP for his all out support for the Gilas team. Imagine, our own government does not send any financial assistance to support our cagers. It’s only MVP who supports them all the way. We salute MVP for his dedication to uplift local sports and we are so proud of the Gilas team because we know they could have won had the referees not been so partial to China.
