ANDRE PARAS is one lucky guy. On the big screen, he's paired with Yassi Pressman in the horror comedy, "Wang Family", where he belongs to a family of vampires led by his own real life dad, Benjie Paras, and with comedian Pokwang as his mom. Viva Entertainment is really pushing his love team with Yassi as they'll soon be launched in their own rom com, "Girlfriend for Hire", whose playdate has been so delayed as it has had several reshoots and has even had a change of directors.
But on TV, Andre is very much identified with Barbie Forteza. (Take note, Andre's leading ladies are both pint-sized compared to him as he stands 6'3" tall.) Their love team has legion of followers because of their exposure in the phenomenal hit afternoon soap, "The Half Sisters", which has been airing on TV for one and a half years now. We've long been saying that a film company should make a film for Andre, Barbie and also co-star Thea Tolentino as they have loyal followers because of "The Half Sisters".
The show was earlier said to be ending this October but GMA-7 management has changed its mind since it continues to rate very high so, the last we heard, the show is extended until January, which made the entire cast and crew rejoice since this means they will have truly merry Christmas season as they won't be jobless yet. Andre and Barbie are scheduled to have their wedding scene this coming week in "The Half Sisters". Let's see if that will help them endear their love team more to their fans. As for the Andre-Yassi love team that Viva obviously hopes to follow in the footsteps of their successful launch of the James Reid-Nadine Lustre love team, we don't think it will be really that successful as long as the Andre-Barbie love team, that has a wider reach on TV, continues to stand in their way.
