Carla Abellana Happy To Be Paired With Gabby Concepcion Even If She's Younger Than KC Concepcion

CARLA ABELLANA is happy to do a light drama like “Because of You”. “It’s not the usual heavy soap seen on primetime,” she says. “This one has liberal touches of comedy and it’s good I got my training na in ‘Ismol Family’ kaya hindi na ko nahirapan sa comic scenes ko rito. Feel good show ito na iba talaga ang treatment.”

Carla is one of the busiest Kapuso actress. She’ll now been in “Because of You” from Monday to Friday starting November 30. On Saturdays, she’s seen in “Karelasyon” and on Sundays, in “Ismol Family”. And she also hosts the cooking demos “Delmonte Kitchenomics”. “I can’t complain dahil ang dami talagang blessings na binibigay ni Lord sa akin.”

She considers it a blessing to work with Gabby again after they worked in the movie “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” four years ago. “Ganun pa rin, masaya sa set. Kwela, Nagpapatawa kahit madaling araw at pagod na kami. Mabait siya sa lahat.”

Gabby’s eldest daughter, KC, is the same age as Carla’s Ate Ericka. “Pareho sila ng birthday. The same day sila pinanganak, April 7, 1985, in the same hospital at magkatabi pa ang rooms ng mom ko at ni Ms. Sharon Cuneta.”

It’s good she has lost weight and is slimmer now. “Yes, when I was doing ‘Pare Koy’, ang laki ko noon. It took five months of working out and dieting bago lumabas yung epekto ng hard work ko. Now, the challenge is how to maintain. I only eat special food prepared for me by Healthy House na bilang talaga ang calories.”

In “Because of You”, Carla plays Andrea, a bubbly girl who is deserted at the altar on their wedding day by Rafael Rosell as Oliver, the runaway groom. She moves on and meets Gabby Concepcion as Jaime, an RTW magnate who’s wife, Valerie Concepcion, leaves him and their four children for Carlo Gonzales. Carla slowly falls in love with her handsome boss but then, Rafael comes back and woos her again. Also in the cast are Celia Rodriguez as Gabby’s haughty mom, Kuh Ledesma as Gabby’s stern business associate, Bettina Carlos as Gabby’s personal assistant who’s secretly in love with him, Rey PJ Abellana as Carla’s long lost dad, Joyce Ching as Gabby’s eldest daughter who’s hostile to Carla, Enzo Pineda as Joyce’s rich but irresponsible boyfriend, Yia Villania and Vaness del Moral as Carla’s caring best friends, Mike Flores as Gabby’s best friend and Julius Arasga, Sofia Pablo and Jacob Briss as Gabby’s younger children.
