GOV. VILMA SANTOS celebrated her 62nd birthday with her constituents in Batangas by hosting a thanksgiving mass and lunch at the Batangas Capitol last Tuesday. “This is my way of thanking them for the past nine years that they’ve been trusting me as their governor,” she says. “Bale 18 years na ako naglilingkod sa Batangas and the first nine years was as mayor of Lipa. So taos puso akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga nakatrabaho ko sa pagtitiwala nila sa akin.”
In the coming elections, she will run for congress as the representative of the lone district of Lipa. “Sa Lipa ako nagsimula at nanggaling sa paglilingkod sa mga Batangueno kaya parang bumabalik lang ako roon,” she adds.
Ate Vi is well loved by the Batanguenos and she is one of the best, if not the best, artista turned politician who really served her people well and should serve as a shining example to other actor-politicians. Our best wishes to Gov. Vi. More birthdays and more success to come.
By next year, she also has a new movie coming up, “All of My Life” from Star Cinema, co-starring future daughter in law Angel Locsin and Xian Lim,directed by Joyce Bernal. This will the company’s initial offering for 2016 to be shown after the Metro-Manila Filmfest. Meantime, her best movie with rival Nora Aunor, “Ikaw ay Akin” directed by the late Ishmael Bernal, was restored by ABS-CBN Restoration and will be shown as part of the Cinema One Digital Filmfest at Trinoma. They play rivals over the affection of Christopher de Leon who won the Urian best actor award of 1978 for this movie.
