MARK HERRAS was only 18 years old when he became the top male winner in the very first edition of Starstruck. Now, he's turning 29 on December 14. Of course, his career is not as successful as his female counterpart then, Jennylyn Mercado, who managed to go beyond the stigma of being an unwed mother and is now considered as one Hot Momma who's one of GMA-7's top female stars these days.
But Mark is not bitter or envious about it. "I'm just thankful that after more than ten years, nandito pa rin ako and still active," he says. "Marami pa rin akong projects, thanks to GMA-7. Right now, I'm in the morning show with Janine Gutierrez, 'Dangwa', at ngayon, narito pa ako sa primetime show sa gabi na 'Little Nanay'. And come 2016, I was told na magkakaroon ako ng isa pang bagong show."
He's enjoying being an unwed dad to his son Ada. "I'm giving much of my attention to her as her father so masyadong attached sa akin. She really changed my world for the father kasi mas lumalim ang sense of responsibility ko. Nag-iipon talaga ako and I even got her an educational plan para sa pag-aaral niya. Okay naman kami ng mom niya (Diane Evangelista) and we're both concerned with the welfare of our daughter kahit we're not living together. Actually, dream ko ring magkaroon na ng sariling family kasi nga 29 na ako, but it all depends kay Lord kung kailan mangyayari yan."
He's happy to be reunited with Kris Bernal in "Little Nanay". "Ilang beses na kaming nagkatrabaho before kaya komportable na kami sa isa't isa. Ang galing niya rito sa soap na ito as a young woman who's mentally challenged. Maraming hahanga sa kanya sa husay niya rito."
