TWITTER has released its top trenders for 2015 and AlDubEBTamang Panahon is No. 3 in its list with its hashtag gathering 40 million tweets, all real and organic. It topped even the tweets for hit foreign shows and events like ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Empire’, ‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘Rising Stars’ and ‘Justin Bieber Roast. Number 1 was Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, followed by Teen Choice. Take note that AlDub is the only one among the trenders from Asia.
The BBC News interview with Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza last month as “a social media phenomenon” was likewise such a hit, so a second interview was conducted with them for BBC World News. It showed how the AlDub love team has given a very big boost to the 36-year old lunchtime show, “Eat Bulaga”, making it very popular now even with younger audiences and in different social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
In the interview with them, Alden and Maine Mendoza were asked if they’re both really in love or are they just putting on an act for the sake of their fans and sponsors.
“Well, that’s for people to find out very soon,” said Alden. "Whatever we have now, we're just making the most out of it and we're just having fun."
Maine said they’re open to having a relationship even off cam. “But no pressure, please,” she added. "We're not closing our doors to what's going to happen next between the two of us.”
Alden and Maine now stars in their first movie together, “My Bebe Love”, along with senior stars Vic Sotto and Ai Ai de las Alas. Writers who attended its presscon at Circle Events Place predict that it will be the topgrosser among the entries in the coming Metro-Manila Filmfest that opens on Christmas Day.
The story written by Director Joey Reyes for them is something like Romeo and Juliet. Alden is the nerdy nephew of Ai Ai while Maine is the headstrong daughter of Vic who rebels against her dad. Ai Ai and Vic are at odds with each other, so this affects the relationship of Alden and Maine. But eventually, the two young people will have a positive influence on each other and fall in love.
