DON’T LOOK NOW but it’s BG Productions that is no doubt the busiest local film outfit today. Before the screening of “Child Haus”, they showed the full trailers of their current movies that are already in the can. This is led by “Sekyu”, written by Ricky Lee and directed by Joel Lamangan. It stars Allen Dizon as an honest security guard who accidentally kills his wife, Sunshine Dizon, and covers up his crime. The film is competing at the 14th Dhaka International Filmfest in Bangladesh and at the 21st Calcutta International Filmfest in India.
“Tupang Ligaw” is an action-drama directed by Rod Santiago, starring Matteo Guidicelli (who looks very convincing in his action scenes) as a soldier looking for his long lost brother in a no-man’s land controlled by El Diablo, played by Paolo Contis. Also in the cast is Ara Mina and Rico Barrera.
“Laut” is a film about the sea-faring Badjaos, whose tribe is really called Sama D’Laut. These are about the Badjaos who moved to Luzon and became informal settlers in a no man’s land in Pampanga near the Megadike. It stars Barbie Forteza, Jak Roberto, Gabbi Garcia, Ronwaldo Martin, Perla Bautista, Anna Capri, also under the direction of Louie Ignacio.
“Iadya Mo Kami” is written by Ricky Lee and directed by Mel Chionglo. This is the story of a young priest, Allen Dizon, who gets a parishioner pregnant, Diana Zubiri, and is transferred to a far away town where he becomes the prime suspect in the murder of the mayor, Ricky Davao. Also starring Aiko Melendez as the mayor’s wife and Eddie Garcia as the bishop. Of all the trailers, this is the one that looks the most promising because you can get a quick grasp of what the story is all about, making you want to look forward to watching the whole movie. Some of the other trailers look like they’re just a compilation of unrelated scenes that do not build up to something more concrete and with more impact.
Also under production are "Tres Marias" about child brides helmed by Joel Lamangan and "Balatkayo" about OFW's and their complicated love life starring Aiko Melendez, Rodjun Cruz and James Blanco.
