IT’S A GOOD gesture on the part of Maine Mendoza to look for Julie Anne San Jose and iron out things up with her when she was a guest in “Sunday PinaSaya” last weekend. It’ll be recalled that fans of the AlDub love team brutally bashed Julie Anne after the show’s director, Rich Ilustre, made a mistake and said in social media that she and Alden Richards are already on. The director later retracted it and Alden also declared it’s not true.
But Aldub fans were not appeased and unrelenting in their vilification of Julie Anne. They demanded that both Julie Anne and Rich be pulled out of “Sunday PinaSaya” when Maine makes a guest appearance in the show. But the show’s producers didn’t listen to them about Julie Anne and she stayed on. They were more successful in the case of Rich, who was replaced by Louie Ignacio.
Maine went to Julie Anne’s dressing room and personally apologized for the behavior of AlDub fans in bashing her when she actually has no “atraso” at all against them or the AlDub love team. We heard Julie Anne really cried because of all the hate messages she got and it’s nice of Maine to hug her and say sorry for all the mess the possessive fans are causing. With Maine’s act of humility, perhaps unreasonable AlDub fans will now stop harassing Julie Anne.
Maine was a guest in the “Caring Deria” portion as the niece of comedian Joey Paras while Alden was the nephew of Ai Ai de las Alas. As expected, the fans were ecstatic during their sweet moments. In the Kantaririt portion where Maine was supposed to guess the title of a song, Alden told her the title was “Akin Ka Na Lang”. Maine answered: “Sige, sa iyo na ko.” But naturally, the fans shrieked and screamed with delight. Later in the “Chef Boy” portions, Alden gave her so many give aways and added: “Pati ako, you can take me home.” And Maine replied: “Tara na!” Once again, the fans swooned.
No doubt AlDub is the hottest love team these days. Another proof is that they made it to the cover of People Asia Magazine. They had a special cover pictorial with Alden in a tuxedo and Maine in a fabulous gown, with the caption saying: “Brighter than the Sun. The Prince and Princess of noontime TV take their rightful place on the cover of People Asia’s 16th Anniversary Issue, as the magazine’s People’s Choice Awardees.” For sure, this will help their first movie together, “My Bebe Love”, be the top grosser in the coming Metro-Manila Filmfest that opens on Christmas Day.
