PATRICIA JAVIER was launched by Viva in 1999 in “Ang Kabit ni Mrs. Montero”, which was a hit so she did more movies like “Unfaithful Wife 2”, “Gusto Ko Nang Lumigaya”, “Basta Ikaw Nangininig Pa”, “Marital Rape” and others. Because she sings, she was tagged then as the Sexy Diva. While doing a show in the States, she met chiropractor Dr. Rob Walcher who wooed her even when she returned to Manila. It was a long distance relationship for a while but she eventually settled down with him and they now have two sons. After 12 years, she decided to return home with their whole family. Was it a difficult decision to make? It’s Dr. Rob who replies.
“We discussed it for several years,” he says. “I had to sell my business to relocate here. Now, I get homesick and miss San Diego, a city I love. It’s hard, I also miss my parents, but it’s okay, no regrets. It’s a new adventure for us. I know Patricia loves it here and she wants to continue her singing and acting career.”
“He’s very supportive,” says Patricia. “But we both know na kahit saan kami naroroon, ang importante, magkakasama kami as a whole family.”
Patricia has just recorded a single, “Ngayong Paskong Ito” by Larry Hermoso, and she’s releasing it in time for this Christmas season. It’s about yearning for lost love during the holidays and in its music video now out on youtube, her leading man is ex-BF Marc Nelson. It’s good Dr. Rob didn’t get jealous.
“No, I actually thought it was a good idea,”says Dr. Rob. “Marc was at our wedding and he’s the ninong of our son. He’s a good friend and being in the video will make people more curious about the song.”
“Rob feels secure about me,” says Patricia. “I make him feel he’s the only man in my life right now and he knows Marc is just part of my past.”
In January, Patricia will release an extended play album, “Patricia Javier: Reinvented”, with six originals songs, mostly written by Larry Hermoso and one by Cristine Bendebel, which are all sentimental love songs. “This is for Pinoy listeners who love listening to senti songs.”
It’s good she can balance her career and mommy duties. “Mahirap pagsabayin kasi we don’t even have a maid. May soap pa ko ngayon sa ABS-CBN, ‘Doble Kara’, so palitan kami ni Rob in taking care of our two sons. But he knows family pa rin ang first priority ko.”
Patricia is also busy with their health and wellness mission. She’s marketing her own brand of virgin coconut oil and, soon, Dr. Rob will open his own clinic as a chiropractor in Makati.
