SID LUCERO has had no soap for over a year now. His last one was ‘My Destiny’ with Carla Abellana. How come?
“I don’t know, baka ayaw na nila sa akin,” he laughs. “Nami-miss ko na nga gumawa ng soap.”
But he’s been making one movie after another. Last year, he did “Mauban” with Alessandra de Rossi. This year, he has done three films so far. He was in “Apocalypse Child” that won best picture in QCinema Filmfest. He has also finished “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” with John Lloyd Cruz and Piolo Pascual for Director Lav Diaz.
He’s particularly excited with the Metro-Manila Filmfest New Wave entry, “Toto”, where he plays the title role. “This one is a comedy and I’ve never done comedy before so it’s a big challenge for me. Ang maganda rito, hindi siya yung usual na slapstick. The actors who are supporting me are the ones who did most of the comedy, like Tito Bembol Roco who plays my father. He is actually a ghost here at ako lang ang nakakakita sa kanya. Thou Reyes, who plays my friend, also does comedy. He’s a natural at kailangan ko na lang sumabay sa kanya. As Toto, I’m a poor uneducated young man from Yolanda-ravaged Tacloban who works in Manila dreaming of getting a U.S. visa so I can work abroad.”
He was last linked to Alessandra de Rossi but their relationship didn’t last very long. How’s his daughter, Halo Eve, with singer Bea Lao? “She’s now two years old. Sobrang nakakatuwa na.”
How’s his relationship with his baby’s mom? “Well, we’re friends naman. But I hope it can be better. As the mom, she’s very considerate to me.”
So will he be alone this Christmas? “No, I will be with someone special. My daughter.”
