Star-Studded 'All You Need Is Pag-Ibig' Shows The Intertwining Stories Of Several People All Needing Genuine Love In Their Lives

KRIS AQUINO and Derek Ramsay head the big cast of the Star Cinema rom-com, “All You Need is Pag-ibig”, but they were both absent at its recent grand presscon. The Metro Filmfest entry turns out to be a smorgasbord movie about the intertwining stories of several couples who all need some genuine “pag-ibig” in their lives. The ages of its star studded cast range from childhood to being a senior citizen.

The kiddie stars in the movie are Bimby Yap and the grandchildren of Charo Santos Concio who are making their film debut, Julia and Talia Concio. The senior stars are veteran actors Ronaldo Valdez and Nova Villa, who have their own love story.

In between, we have Kris and Derek, Jodi Sta. Maria and Ian Veneracion (their first big screen team up after their tandem clicked on TV in “Pangako Sa’Yo”), Kim Chiu and Xian Lim. Also in the cast is Pokwang, who’s the only one without a ka-love team in the movie. And this might be better for the movie, since look what happened when she had a ka-love team in “Wang Fam”. She might be “nganga” in “All You Need is Pag-ibig”, but off cam, of course, we all know Pokie is very much in a relationship now with Lee O’Brian with whom she’s now officially engaged as Lee would soon bring his parents over to Manila for Pokie to meet them.

Kim and Xian were the most interviewed stars in the presscon. Asked if Xian is her Mr. Right, Kim replies: “Siguro. All I need is Xian!” and she laughs. When asked about the status of their relationship, Xian said it is blossoming every day. They add that they shot the movie on location in beautiful Coron, Palawan for six days and the beautiful scenery helps them bond well while they were working there together.

As for Ian Veneracion, he’s luckier than Richard Yap who was paired with Jodi for two years in “Please Be Careful” but they never got to do a movie. “Pangako Sa’Yo” is not even on the air for one year yet, but here’s Ian doing a movie with Jodi and their love team have its followers who call their tandem Jodian. Their supporters say they can give their co-stars Kathniel, a run for their money. How can Ian explain this?

“I don’t know,” he says. “When I was younger, never akong nagka-love team. Who’d have thought na kung kailan ako married with three kids, doon pa ako magkaka-love team? Tinutukso nga ako ng mga anak ko, masyado raw akong pa-cute. But I think viewers like our team up ni Jodi kasi alam nilang may forbidden love between us, so may sexual tension and that makes it more interesting.”

“All You Need is Pag-ibig” is from Director Antoinette Jadaone, who helmed “You’re My Boss” with Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin, one of Star Cinema’s biggest hits this year. It’s perfect viewing for the whole family and opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
