AS PREDICTED BY various quarters, “My Bebe Love #Kilig Pa More” starring Vic Sotto, Ai Ai de las Alas and the AlDub love team emerged as the runaway topgrosser on the opening of the Metro-Manila Filmfest on Christmas Day. Its director and co-writer, Jose Javier Reyes, made a round of various cinemas and saw personally for himself that several theatres were sold out by mid-afternoon.
The movie is produced jointly by five giant film outfits -- OctoArts Films, M-Zet Television Productions, Inc., APT Entertainment, GMA Films and Meda Production. In exit interviews with viewers who just saw the movie, satisfied moviegoers said they were thoroughly entertained not only by the stars but the endearing story that combines heartwarming romance, lots of laughs and also told with excellent Filipino values.
All of them, not just fans of the AlDub nation, say the whole movie is very entertaining for the whole family and they will surely recommend it to their friends. They enjoyed not only the winning performances of the four lead stars but also the support of Joey de Leon, the “Eat Bulaga' lolas Paolo Ballesteros, Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola, plus child star Ryzza Mae Dizon who all make special appearances in the movie.
In the story, Vic as Vito Carillo and Ai Ai as Cora Tala-Tala are business opponents who hate each other. Things get complicated when Vic’s daughter, Anna (Maine Mendoza), and Ai Ai’s geeky nephew, Dondi (Alden Richards), fall in love with each other. The ‘kilig’ factor and oozing chemistry between Alden and Maine is all over the screen and the fans just keep on shrieking and screaming when they’re together. Maine is a natural “kikay” actress/comedian who knows how to use her rubbery face to great advantage, just like Maricel Soriano in her younger years. Alden is every inch the handsome heartthrob on the big screen and also acts well. No doubt that after being second lead to Vic and Ai Ai in “My Bebe Love”, they now certainly deserve to be launched as a solo love team in their next screen outing.
In fairness to Vic and Ai Ai, they were not just eclipsed by the younger AlDub love team. They have great rapport with each other and their exchanges of repartees and punch line are all delivered with maximum hilarious impact. The scene where they get drunk while drinking lambanog and spend the night in bed together is quite a riot. No doubt they have great comic chemistry together that give the movie so much good vibes. So don’t wonder anymore why “My Bebe Love” easily became the numero uno at the box office in this year’s Metro-Manila Filmfest.
