ALLEN DIZON considers 2015 as a banner year for his career. He won a total of 9 best actor awards, both local and international, for his masterful title role performance in “Magkakabaung” and also one for the Sinag Maynila Filmfest best actor award for his portrayal of an aging “hosto” in Japan in “Imbisibol”.
He has completed two new films, “Sekyu” directed by Joel Lamangan (an entry in the coming Dhaka International Filmfest in Bangladesh this month) and “Iadya Mo Kami” directed by Mel Chionglo (an entry in the coming 14th Pune International Filmfest in India and Silk Road International Filmfest in Ireland). He has just finished another movie, “Walang Katapusang EDSA” directed by Alvin Yapan. These three films are scheduled to be released in theaters this year, with “Iadya Mo Kami”, which is about the struggles of a young priest and where he co-stars with Diana Zubiri and Aiko Melendez, to be released just before Holy Week.
Right now, Allen is in the beautiful island of Camiguin shooting on location yet another movie, the Cinemalaya entry “Lando and Bugoy” to be shown in July. This is directed by Vic Asedillo Jr. and he plays the role of a no-read no-write dad who is challenged by his own son to go back to school, so they become classmates in grade school. Aside from the movies he did, he also played a regular role in the ABS-CBN soap, “Doble Kara”, as Carmina Villaroel’s husband.
