VIVA ENTERTAINMENT is the first showbiz company to call for a presscon after the holidays. Last Monday, they had a lunch presscon for TV5’s new talent search, “Born to be a Star”, hosted by Ogie Alcasid, with Yassi Pressman and Mark Bautista as segment hosts, and Pops Fernandez, Aiza Seguerra, Andrew E and Rico Blanco as judges. In the evening, they had a dinner presscon for their first film offering for 2016, “Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin”.
To those who want to join “Born to be a Star” and be the next Sarah Geronimo who was also discovered by Viva, you can take the auditions on January 9 & 10 at SM City Bicutan; Jan. 16 & 17 at SM City Sta. Mesa; and Jan. 23 & 24 at SM City San Mateo.
Registration starts at 10 AM and the audition will be held from 1 to 9 PM. The audition is open to males and females, ages 13-18 years old only. The winner will be called the Ultimate Star and will take as much as P2 million worth of cash prizes plus a house and lot. 'Born To Be A Star' premieres on February 6 on TV5. It can also be viewed on the following cable channels: Cignal Digital TV, Ch. 5; Destiny Cable, Ch. 6 (analog) and Ch. 10 (digital) and Sky Cable Ch. 10
Host Ogie Alcasid is very optimistic that this partnership between Viva and TV5 will be very fruitful. “Kasi dati, kulang sa artista ang TV5,” he says. “Ngayon, dala ni Boss Vic ang stars nila sa Viva stable kaya dumami ang mga artista ng TV5.”
The movie “Lumayo Ka Nga sa Akin” is a trilogy of comic stories based on the best-selling book of Bob
Ong. Each story is a spoof of a different movie genre. The first episode is an action-comedy, “Bala sa Bala, Kamao sa Kamao, Satsat sa Satsat” starring Benjie Paras as the survivor of a massacre that happened during his own church wedding, co-starring with Candy Pangilinan, directed by Mark Meily.
The second episode is a horror-comedy, “Shake, Shaker, Shakest” (obviously a parody of the “Shake Rattle & Roll” franchise), starring Maricel Soriano and Herbert Bautista as a couple stranded in a haunted house, directed by Andoy Ranay.
The third episode is a sexy soap opera-comedy, “Asawa ni Marie” (based on the lurid children’s son about “asawa ni Marie, araw-gabi walang panty”), starring the comebacking sexpot Cristine Reyes as a poor farm girl wooed by the owners of the farm where she works. This is directed by Chris Martinez. The movie opens in theatres on January 13.
