YASSI PRESSMAN started her career with GMA-7 when she was 13 as a dancer in ‘SOP’ and ‘Party Pilipinas’. She later did supporting roles in soaps like “Ilumina” and “Time of Your Life” before being included in the teen show “Tween Hearts”. She did more soaps like “Borrowed Wife”, “Rhodora X” and “Dalawang Mrs. Real” before moving to TV5 last year doing “Wattpad Presents” with Kapatid actors Mark Neumann and Vin Abrenica.
She then signed up a managerial contract with Viva Entertainment and was paired with Andre Paras as second leads in “Diary ng Panget” that successfully launched the JaDine love team. She was also cast in “Talk Back You’re Dead” minus Andre and later with Andre again in “Wang Fam”. Now, her love team with Andre called Yandre is officially launched in “Girlfriend for Hire”, directed by Vanessa de Leon.
Viva now handles the shows of TV5 and she’s cast as a co-host in their talent search, “Born to be a Star”, and in the episode “Mysterious Guy at the Coffee Shop” with Vin Abrenica of “Wattpad Presents”, which is now a weekly and no longer a nightly show. It’ll be shown for one and a half hours every Saturday night in tandem with “Tasya Fantasya”. No wonder she feels so blessed.
“Ang tagal din naman nang pinaghintay ko before I was given all these breaks,” she says. “Kumbaga, naghirap din ako and I now thank Boss Vic of Viva for trusting in me and giving me all these good projects.”
She admits she and Andre feel pressure as the playdate of their movie on February 10 is fast approaching as a Valentine’s Day presentation. “It’s a test for our love team at sana nga, the viewers will support it.”
Yassi says she’s loveless now and her last love affair left her traumatized, with Kapuso actor Sef Cadayona who dumped her for Andrea Torres. Andre Paras doesn’t hide the fact that he really has a crush on her and it’s his younger brother Kobe who told Yassi about this. Maybe this will help to attract more fans to support their love team.
Of course, the biggest threat to their tandem is the fact that Andre has another ka-love team, Barbie Forteza, with whom his new show, “That’s My Amboy”, just started and was well received by TV audiences. Here’s hoping that their movie will similarly be a hit, even if it’s facing tough competition with another Valentine offering, Regal’s rom-com, “Love is Blind” with Kiray Celis, Derek Ramsay and Solenn Heussaff.
