After Hits 'Half Sisters' & 'Because Of You', Director Mark Reyes All Set To Helm The Remake Of 'Encantadia'

WE VISITED THE set of “Because of You” and its director, Mark Reyes, says he and the cast led by Gabby Concepcion, Carla Abellana and Rafael Rosell are all so happy with the huge success of the series. “We didn’t expect that it will be this popular kasi it’s more of a romcom on primetime than the usual drama,” he says. “But obviously, sawa na ang mga tao sa sobrang drama sa gabi. They prefer to watch their drama shows in the afternoon, kaya nga tumakbo nang halos two years ang aming ‘Half Sisters’. Sa gabi, they want to watch something light naman.”

After “Because of You”, he’s all set to direct the new version of “Encantadia”. He denied earlier reports that they’ve already chosen the new cast after a picture of Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla and other stars came out.

“Maraming stars who came to the auditions at maraming batches yun ng stars na ni-look test namin. Pero yung batch na yun lang ang may nag-leak at kinalat nang yun daw ang napili. It’s not true. Up to now, we’re still auditioning kung sino ang babagay sa various roles in the show so there’s no final casting yet. Ang sure pa lang talaga, si Marian Rivera as Inang Reyna, and Starstruck 6 winners Klea Pineda and Migo Adecer who’ll do the roles originally played by Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras. All the rest, pinag-iisipan pa. Yun namang mga gusto ko sana, may existing soaps na, like Barbie Forteza na nasa ‘That’s My Amboy’, si Andrea Torres na nasa ‘Millionaire’s Wife’ na papalit sa ‘Destiny Rose’, si Bianca Umali na nasa ‘Wish I May’. So maniwala lang kayo kapag nakita nyo na ang Kapuso stars na nagpi-pictorial suot ang costumes nila bilang mga Sangre. At any rate, we’re just happy na marami nang excited sa pagbabalik ng ‘Encantadia’. We just promise na hindi namin sila bibiguin.”
