It’s not only Claudine who gets praised but also Cesar Montano, who has remained so slim and fit even if he’s already 50 years old. But alas, the other comebacking actor, Diether Ocampo, got consistent flak for delivering what appears to be half-hearted performance. “Hamonado at parang hindi gumagalaw ang mukha niya,” says a writer connected to a TV network. “Hindi na lang sana siya bumalik kasi parang wala naman siyang gana sa harap ng kamera.”
Writers agree that the daughter of Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong, Mariel de Leon, who’s being introduced here, is a definite find. “Natalbugan niya sa kaseksihan dito ang Viva property na si Meg Imperial, who also needs to reduce,” says the writer from a TV network.
Director Joel Lamangan obviously updated the material based on the late Director Danny Zialcita’s original movie to make it more acceptable for today’s generation of viewers. How come he was not able to motivate Diether to deliver a more convincing kind of performance?
Claudine was asked about Raymart Santiago with whom she’s now in good terms, but she begged off. “Okay na yung sinusuportahan namin ang isa’t isa para sa kapakanan ng mga anak naming dapat naming palikihin nang tama. Pero huwag na lang siyang isali dito at baka mapagbintangan pa akong ginagamit siya sa promo ng comeback TV show ko,” she pleads.
And she’s right, of course.
