DEREK RAMSAY’S new movie for Regal, “Love is Blind”, is yet to be shown on February 10, but he has already started shooting his new movie, “My Candidate”, to be directed by Quark Henares, the son of Dr. Vicki Belo. The movie is a romantic-comedy spoofing the shenanigans of most candidates during elections. They're aiming to release it in May before the presidential election. This is produced by Quantum Films of Atty. Joji Alonso, who also did Derek's award-winning “English Only Please” and the recent Metro filmfest entry, “Walang Forever”, which has hit P150 million in earnings.
Derek plays a promising young politician who’s running for the senate. He then meets a female spin doctor who helps in orchestrating his campaign and giving him a new image. The first choice to play his leading lady is Jennylyn Mercado, since they’ve already proven that they have good chemistry together.
But Jennylyn begged off and said she cannot do the project, so Quantum Films is now looking for a new replacement. We heard the names of some of the actresses they’re considering for the role but we’re not yet at liberty to write about them. Clue: one of them is an actress-TV host who just got married and another one is an actress who just gave birth.
